Saturday 22nd August was my first time stepping foot into public transportation since mid March. Normally I would take the tram straight to our shopping areas but had to use a rail replacement bus instead because of engineering works. There were many people on, nearly all wearing masks and I had one on too. I headed straight to where I had to go, picked up what I had gone to buy and doubled my steps quickly to the station for the return journey, as if I was being chased. I did not spend any time going shop to shop looking for possible bargains like I used to do before lockdown…. that felt strange. When I got home I shared my new behaviour with a friend. It turned out that I was not alone. My friend had changed along those lines …..and she has been making welcome savings too. Oh well that’s COVID-19 effect for you.
