March 1st 2022: Shrove Tuesday fell on St David’s Day!
The kitchen and technical crews assembled early ready for a 1pm kick-off.
People were turning up, registering and buying raffle tickets, tea and coffee.
Inscrutable puzzles were on the tables to keep us amused while the hall filled up.
Hilary Bell of Croydon Relief in Need paid a familiarisation visit and gave a talk on their work http://www.croydonalmshouses.org.uk/relief-in-need.html as they will be funding some of Welderlies events in the future.
Hardika Ladva led a discussion on ‘Effects of On and Off Fasting on our health’. Going round the room and hearing about who fasts and why we found out that there are different forms of fasting. Some people fast for religious reasons while others for health reasons for example to give our systems a rest or toe lose weight among others.
Some fruits and vegetables were served, followed by pancakes with the emphasis on pancake decoration.

The session ended with dance to such tunes as ‘Let’s Twist Again’ , ‘Get it On’ and ‘Trenchtown Rock’.
A good time was had by all thanks to the contribution of volunteers of the day.
Sadly, Esme could not make it, but she sent in this photo from home to show her interest to be part of.
